4 Shot at Howe Park Sacramento - Large Unauthorized Party Erupts in Gunfire





Saturday night, a large unauthorized party of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Park in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento erupted in gunfire when 20 to 25 rounds echoed through the area as law enforcement officers were in the process of clearing the area.

What Happened

Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County law enforcement got reports concerning persons reportedly carrying concealed firearms at Howe Community Park. A follow-up call indicated a potential physical confrontation and individuals fleeing the scene.

A sheriff's helicopter was sent to the area and scanned the park but did not locate any ongoing altercation.

Nonetheless, multiple hundreds of people had collected at the park for what the sheriff's office identified as an unlawful gathering. Law enforcement personnel formed a perimeter around the park, switched on their vehicle lights, and spent approximately 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out using public address systems.

While law enforcement cleared the gathering, between 20 and 25 shots were discharged — sending the crowd scattering in all directions.

Those Injured

Four people — a female and three male victims, all in their 20s — were taken to nearby hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, one sustained moderate injuries, and one had minor injuries. Each of the four victims was in read more stable condition. At the Scene

Gunfire originated from the Cottage Way side of the park close to the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue in Sacramento. The Home Depot was put under a brief lockdown. What We Know About Suspects

Through scanner communications, it was confirmed that a suspect car — described as a Kia vehicle — was pulled over in nearby Solano County with four individuals detained. Sacramento County Sheriff's units were traveling to collect those detained and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation.
